SGS provides complete compositional analyses services for upstream exploration and production utilising industry-standard methods. We follow rigorous calibration procedures to generate detailed compositional data on both atmospheric and pressurised samples.
SGS compositional analyses services
We offer an extensive network of state-of-the-art laboratories and high-quality analyses. Our services include a proprietary flash system called the Mini-GOR™, which was developed by SGS for analysis of pressurised oil, gas and brine samples. This system accurately determines GOR (Gas-Oil Ratios), GWR (Gas-Water Ratios) and CGR (Condensate-Gas Ratios) along with oil, water and condensate shrinkage factors. The compositions of the flashed hydrocarbon products are measured with conventional gas chromatography (GC) in accordance to GPA standard methods. Brine (also referred to as produced water) ionic concentrations are determined by ion-chromatography (IC). Bulk properties, such as water pH, total dissolved solid (TDS), water-in-oil, molecular weight and density are measured to ASTM or other industry-standard methods.
